Awake From Your Slumber!

Hi. My name is Darcy, the Anxious Sausage. Well, the sausage part is mostly my brain. I can’t really do much without it. If anyone was actually reading my posts, someone might have noticed I wasn’t having much output lately.

I don’t know what I did to my Sausage, but it was mad at me. So mad in fact that it refused to speak to me. I had not meant to quarell with my Sausage, but there you go. Try as I might, I could not get my Sausage to answer me. “Help me write something!” I would implore but nothing but icy quiet was the response. “Fine then! I’m not talking to you either!” I grumped. But that didn’t help anything. Maybe if I think about what I had done to rise it’s ire. Crap! I need my Sausage for that! Now what?

So I sat there. Real quiet like. Just sat there, eyes closed. Breathing rythmically.Maybe I had been to “You gotta do this and figure out that” so it decided it would do none of that instead. Maybe it needed a moment of peace. Solitude. Catch its breath.

So in a quiet, respectful way, I approached my Sausage kindly. “Sorry for making you work so hard, with all my worry and anxiety and stuff. I guess I sometimes take it granted you will always be there to think things I want to think.” Brains need loving too.

And so after a week or so of being Sausage-less, I am glad to have it back and on speaking terms again. Meditation is really a necessary gift given to hard working brains. We’re in it for the long-haul so some TLC is definitely a must.

If you ever find your own brain is being elusive, I recommend trying some meditation. There are plenty of good guided meditations on YouTube that help get you and your brain to be friendly again. It’s not all hookum and bally-hoo. There is some genuine purpose in giving your brain a spa day. Especially if you have a special Sausage like mine.

Now that I think about it, 90% of my anxiety is trying to figure out what to make for dinner…
